Abbott raises dividend for 46th straight year

Dividend Aristocrat Abbott Laboratories (ABT) will raise its quarterly dividend to $0.28 per share in the first quarter of 2018.

Abbott Laboratories will raise its quarterly dividend by 5.7 percent. This marks the 376(th) consecutive quarterly dividend to be paid by Abbott since 1924. The cash dividend is payable Feb. 15, 2018, to shareholders of record at the close of business on Jan. 12, 2018.

Abbott has increased its dividend payout for 46 consecutive years and is a member of the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index, which tracks companies that have increased dividends annually for at least 25 consecutive years.

Last year Abbott raised its dividend for the 45th consecutive year. The current dividend yield is 2.0%. The stock has gained 48 percent in 2017 and trades near its all time high.
