S&P Global announces 2022 dividend increase

S&P Global (ticker symbol SPGI) will raise its dividend by 10.4% to 85 cents per share quarterly in 2022. This is the 49th consecutive year of dividend increases by the company. 

On February 28, 2022, Dividend Aristocrat S&P Global announced the completion of the approximately $140 billion merger with IHS Markit, creating a leading information services provider with a unique portfolio of highly complementary assets.

In a press release SPGI also announced the new dividend increase for 2022. The Board of Directors of S&P Global today approved a 10.4% increase in the regular quarterly cash dividend on the Company's common stock over the prior quarter.  The quarterly dividend will increase from $0.77 to $0.85 per share in the second quarter. The dividend of $0.85 is payable on June 10, 2022, to shareholders of record on May 27, 2022. Last year SPGI hiked its dividend by 14.9 percent.

The new annual dividend of $3.40 per SPGI share is yielding 0.9% at a stock price of $375. Year-to-date the stock price is down 20%. S&P Global now pays its shareholders an estimated 819 million dollars in dividends annually if we include this new dividend hike just announced.
